My husband and I along with our pup, stayed here for two nights last week September 2023 We loved our stay here. The staff was amazing and so accommodating. Our room had the most perfect view of the ocean. The hotel is in a perfect location on the beach and boardwalk and shops very close by. We ended up eating at the restaurant Maggie's that is located on the first level of the hotel. Beautiful outdoor seating, which also accommodated our pup as well. The food was so pretty and delicious! We ended up eating there our second night as well. This place is very charming and we highly recommend staying here. We for sure will be back soon! Thank you so much for making our stay amazing! See you soon!
Had the opportunity to stay at this adorable hotel this weekend. We stayed in the newly renovated Sand Dollar room and it was amazing! The tub was absolute heaven. It was a small cozy room with a fireplace, vaulted ceilings and a nice sized spa shower. Wendy, the manager was super helpful, friendly and welcoming. We can’t wait to stay here again.
I booked two nights at this place. Despite them not emailing or texting to confirm the reservation beforehand like they said they would, I actually liked the inn at first. The location was good, the room was nice and quiet, and the lady at the front desk seemed friendly. I did find it a bit odd the office is closed from 9 PM to 8 AM, but...not a huge deal.
Then, at about 10:30 PM on the first night, I was lying down on the bed reading a Kindle, and noticed a stupid bug crawling toward me in the bed. I instinctively flung it away in disgust. It landed on the nighttable and crawled around on there. I then desperately tried to smush it, but it fell on the floor and disappeared from sight.
Initially, I didn't think it was a bedbug; having never seen one, I thought bedbugs were smaller. But I looked up bedbugs online, just to assure myself it wasn't one of those. Much to my horror, the pictures I found looked VERY VERY similar to the orange-brown insect I saw that just happened to be crawling around during the evening hours IN A BED at a hotel.
Because the office was closed at that time, I couldn't inform the front desk right away. However, at promptly 8 AM the next morning, I did inform the woman who checked us in the previous afternoon -- I thought her name was Lindy (based on other reviews, it's apparently Wendy). I told her I liked the room and appreciated how quiet it was, but had noticed what looked an awful lot like a bedbug the night before.
Wendy's "friendly" demeanor noticeably changed. Rather than offering to switch rooms like any other hotel or motel would have done, Wendy firmly told me "We don't have bedbugs". She said she could call an exterminator, but if they didn't find bedbugs I'd have to cover the cost.
I certainly didn't want to do that, and just told her I'd let her know if I saw another bug. Then I did some thinking -- and about 5 minutes later, I went back to the front desk and asked Wendy if they had any ocean-view or partial ocean-view rooms available and offered to pay the difference in cost. Wendy said she would check availability and call me back.
About 15-20 minutes after that, Wendy indeed called. But not to offer a room.
instead, Wendy said she spoke to the property owner -- and they were going to refund one night (which I hadn't asked for) but she didn't "feel comfortable" with us staying the second night because I'd made the "accusation" about the bug. She said we could have brought it in -- and that they'd be calling an exterminator, and again strongly hinted I would be responsible for any extermination fees (without telling me what those fees would be) and that it's "up to the owner" whether I'm charged or not.
I pointed out that I was trying to help Wendy by informing her of the insect, and she said "No". I can only interpret this response as Wendy didn't want to be informed of something that looked suspiciously like a bedbug in the hotel room.
So we left -- and went to the Best Western (which is great, costs less, and where I wanted to stay in the first place. The only reason I didn't book it was Expedia implied it wasn't available for two nights). On our way out, when the person I was traveling with silently returned the keys, Wendy rather unnecessarily told him to "lose the hostility".
TL:DR -- Informed hotel of a possible bedbug (it was definitely SOME kind of bug) and basically got "punished" for doing this. Hotel was NOT receptive, made us leave before the second night, accused us of bringing the bug in, strongly hinted I'll be responsible for the cost of any extermination, and told my travel companion to "lose the hostility" when he silently returned the keys.
We stayed in the partial ocean view queen spa room, the room was newly remodeled and absolutely beautiful. The location is perfect your right on the boardwalk. The staff was super friendly. The parking is limited but as you will find that's how it is pretty much anywhere, that being said the 3 nights we stayed we always found close parking. The nice thing about staying here is there is soo much within walking distance. I definitely hope to stay again.
Great check in, service awesome at front desk. Room was deplorable! Carpet filthy!!! Furniture mismatched. Bath "remodel" extremely unprofessional looking. Windows filthy. Molding gobbed with caulk. Terrible and OVERPRICED! Owner yelled at me in parking lot as HE was blocking driveway, I couldn't get in!!! Stay elsewhere! This place was awful!!!!
Looks nothing like the pictures, jetted tub jets barley worked, toilet clogged alot, parking is horrible, tile comes off fire place, windows don't seal so you hear a whistle from the wind all night, tv freezes constantly, and they are doing renovations above us and was not told that so had to hear construction above us during the day. Not at all worth it very disappointed. Feel I was ripped off.
Beautiful seaside hotel. we booked at last moment due to snow front coming in. service was great. Rooms were clean. Bonus is The Jetted Bathtub
There was no second bedroom. The room was not anything like the ohotos. It dis not have a private bathroom. In fact the toilet was the only part that qas …
